Conan the Barbarian returns to the big screen this summer with Jason Momoa playing Robert E. Howard's legendary character. It's been hard for me to get behind this Conan reboot, The last trailer that was released was packed to the brim with action sequences, but it still gave us no real idea of what the story or script will turn out like. At least we know from the trailer that we will be entertained through massive amounts of sword wielding destruction.

Lionsgate has released a new poster for the Marcus Nispel directed film and features Conan kicking some ass with his sword, which is what I would have liked to have done to someone yesterday who tired to run me off the road like a complete idiot. But, I didn't have a sword.

The film also stars Rachel Nichols as Tamara, Stephen Lang as Khalar Zym, Rose McGowan as Marique, Said Taghmaoui as Ela-Shan, and Ron Perlman as Conan's father, Corin.

Conan the Barbarian is set to be released August 19th 2011.

Here's the synopsis:

Having thrived and evolved for eight consecutive decades in the public imagination- in prose and graphics, on the big screen and small, in games and properties of all kinds- Conan's exploits in the Hyborian Age now come alive like never before in a colossal 3D action-adventure film. A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.
