Seth MacFarlane to reboot THE FLINTSTONES for TV and film

Seth MacFarlane has finalized a deal to reboot The Flintstones for TV and film, which has been one of his life-long ambitions. According to Deadline, MacFarlane has been given permission after years of very complicated negotiations between 20th Century Fox TV and Warner Bros Television, which owns the rights the Hanna-Barbera. The rightholders were somewhat concerned how the classic series would be interpreted given how raunchy The Family Guy can be. No broadcast date has been set at this time, but the reboot will air on Fox.

The last time Flintstones were rebooted we were given a horrible feature film, so anything has to be better than that in my opinion. I am guessing that if the TV series goes well there is the possibility that fans will have a new film to enjoy as well. I grew up watching the reruns of this show on TV and am excited to see what MacFarlane comes up with. He definitely knows how to handle animated series, so this is good news.
