Disney Developing ANIMATED AMERICA with Robert Zemekis

Disney is going to work on developing a new live-action animated hybrid film called Animated America. Robert Zemeckis, Bob Cooper and Dan Fogelman are all attached to produce the film. Disney recently pulled the plug on Zemeckis' Yellow Submarine film project, and he's also attached to produce a horror film about killer gnomes, and still working on bring a Roger Rabbit sequel to life.

The Princess and the Frog screenwriter Rob Edwards has been hired to write the script for Animated America. The story "revolves around an animated baby raised by a live-action family until his 18th birthday, when he decides to find his real family with the help of his friend and her jealous boyfriend."

I gotta say... that is a very interesting concept. A cartoon baby being raised by a human family? That's so weird, but I love it.

It's also reported in the same article that Edwards will be writing a screenplay for the upcoming film Amulet, which will potentially star Willow and Jaden Smith. That film is "based on the graphic novel series by Kazu Kibuishi and follows a teenage boy and his sister, who are pulled into a mystical world of demons, monsters and talking animals and discover that they are the last in a line of gatekeepers who must quickly learn to control a powerful amulet to save the world."

What do you all think about this new Animated America project?
