Mel Gibson to star in heist comedy SLEIGHT OF HAND

Mel Gibson is close to a deal to join the cast of Brad Mirman's heist comedy Sleight of Hand. He will star opposite Kiefer Sutherland, Gerard Depardieu and Thomas Jane. Giancarlo Giannini, Jon Lovitz and Johnny Hallyday are also set to join the cast about "a crew of small-time crooks in Paris who inadvertently end up possessing a rare gold coin belonging to a notorious French gangster."

Hannibal Classics' Richard Rionda del Castro is producing along with Gilles Thompson from Acteurs, Auteurs, Associes. Patricia Eberle is serving as executive producer. The film is slated to begin production in July.

Gibson's newest film, The Beaver, did poorly at the U.S. box office, but received a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. As a fan of Gibson, I am excited to see The Beaver and Sleight of Hand. The cast is really good, so it will be interesting to see what role Gibson is set to play.
