Natascha Kampusch biopic moving forward without Bernd Eichinger

Movie by

The controversial biopic about Natascha Kampusch is moving forward without Bernd Eichinger producing. The film tells the story of the Austrian girl kidnapped and held for 8 years in a basement cell. Eichinger was working on the screenplay for the film when he passed away unexpectedly in January. He was responsible for producing such films as the Oscar-nominated Downfall as well as the Resident Evil and Fantastic Four franchises.

Constantin Films is producing the film and have begun searching for directors and are finishing the script. Eichinger worked on the initial drafts of the script with ournalist Peter Reichard, who spent months interviewing Kampusch for a German TV documentary. Production head Martin Moskowicz believes a director will be attached to the film by June/July, with filming expected to begin next year.

This is pretty intense story and one that will make an interesting feature film. I am interested in seeing how the project turns out. What are your thoughts on this news?
