Joss Whedon Directed the Post Credits Scene in THOR

Movie Joss WhedonThor by Joey Paur

I just assumed that the director of Thor, Kenneth Branagh directed the post credit easter egg scene in Thor with Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgard. Turns out that's not the case, in a recent interview with Skarsgard he revealed that The Avengers director Joss Whedon actually directed it, which makes sense because it is a lead-in to The Avengers. It's not really a big deal that Whedon directed this end scene, but it's something maybe some of you hardcore geeks might want to know.

For those of you who may have missed the end credit here's a little description of what went down. You are now entering SPOILER territory.

So in the last scene of the movie Dr. Selvig played by Stellan Skarsgård meets up with Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson, in some kind of government S.H.I.E.L.D. location. Fury is standing in front of a table with a large metal box/case on it. They go on to discuss some recent discoveries that Selvig has made in relation to some of the alternate universes. Fury then asks Selvig for his advice on something... and that's what is in the case on the table. Fury opens up the case and inside is the the Tesseract or Cosmic Cube linking the film to Captain America. Selvig then asks what is it, Fury tells him that it is a source of incredible power. After he says this the camera moves a bit revealing a reflection of Loki played by Tom Hiddleston. So Loki is actually possessing Selvig. Loki responds to Fury with... "That's very interesting…" Boom, end.

What this tells me is that Loki and the cosmic cube will most likely play a big role in The Avengers. In fact I think it confirms that Loki will be the big bad villain in the movie, which is something I've always thought all along, with Loki using the Hulk to wreck havoc.
