Chris Vance takes the Lead Role in THE TRANSPORTER TV show
Chris Vance has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming TV adaptation of The Transporter which is based on the action films starring Jason Statham. Vance will take over Statham's role as the badass driver and “professional transporter” Frank Martin. Vance is a British actor that has been involved with shows such as Prison Break and Burn Notice. Andrea Osvart has also been cast as the lead female character, "Frank's handler Carla, an extremely crafty former CIA operative who organizes his missions, acts as his eyes and ears on the outside, and continually stokes the flames of their unrequited attraction."
The Luc Besson produced series will premiere on Cinemax next year with 12 episodes. This serieswill center on professional transporter Frank Martin. Operating in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, Martin can always be counted on to get the job done — discreetly. He has three rules: Never change the deal, no names and never open the package.
The first season of the show will be shot this summer in Canada and Europe. Vance had this to say in a statement,
It’s high octane. Fast-paced. Action-packed. Car chases. Stunts. Fights, Beautiful girls. Villains. Heroes. Guns. It should be a lot of fun.
I think he'll make a great fit for the show, he goes on to talk about the training he is going through and reveals that the same stunt team that worked on the movies are also working on the TV series.
I’m on a fitness program at the moment. It’s more stamina work than anything, because we will be shooting for five months and that’s a long time to sustain all the physical activities that we’ve got on the show. The stunt guys that worked on the movies are coordinating all the stunts and the action sequences and everything for the series. They’re all very experienced. I’ll be working with them and whatever I can do, I’ll do.
I enjoyed the first couple of Transporter movies, and I think this concept and these characters will translate very well for the small screen. I can't wait to see it!
