Disney Changes the Title for JOHN CARTER OF MARS to JOHN CARTER

It looks like Disney may have had a little brain fart. For some reason the studio decided to change the title of of the Andrew Stanton directed film John Carter of Mars to simply John Carter. Well, that's a boring title and it's just distanced itself even further from the Edgar Rice Burroughs classic novels from which the film was adaptated. So how is this helping the movie? It's not.

My second thought to this title change other than how stupid it was, was that Disney might be trying to cut any similarities to their animated film failure, Mars Needs Moms, which means taking the word Mars out of the title so people don't make that connection. This is also a stupid reason because Mars Needs Moms is already gone and forgotten, and next year no one will even remember that it existed. Does this mean Disney won't release anymore titles with the word Mars in it? This is just speculation, but what other reason does Disney have for changing the title to John Carter? Now the movie doesn't sound anything like an awesome sci-fi film, it's that "Of Mars" in the title that is a huge selling point, unless they don't want people to know the movie is a sci-fi film that takes place on Mars with aliens. Forget the fact that Willem Dafoe plays a four-armed giant green alien named Tars Tarkas. People won't notice at all.

Come on people! This is just silly. I honestly don't see how this title change is going to help the film. What do you all think?

The story chronicles the journey of Civil-War veteran John Carter, who finds himself battling a new and mysterious war amidst a host of strange Martian inhabitants, including Tars Tarkas and Dejah Thoris.  The film has a great cast of actors which includes Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church and Willem Dafoe.
