Incredible X-Wing Fighter Soapbox Derby Car!

Now this is what a great soapbox racer looks like! This is obviously a soapbox derby car version of the X-Wing Fighter from the classic film Star Wars. This thing is simply awesome. It's so cool that there are geeks out there that take the time and have the talent to actually make something like this. If I were attempt to build this, it definitely would look as badass.

The racer includes a R2D2 with a rotating head that can be controlled by a classic Nintendo controller. The car was made by The Papier Boy and here's what he had to say about it,

For the 2011 Nazareth Adult Soapbox Derby I wanted to design a car that people would like and made me feel heroic. So I decided I would model it after one of the most important vehicles of our nation's history: the T-65 X-wing fighter.

I scoured the web to print pictures and blueprints of X-wing Fighters. Thankfully, there is an entire nerd community dedicated to fantasizing about what makes Star Wars ships tick. So I got pics of models, blue prints, and all kinds of drawings. These would give me a reference for this year's car.

Well, I think he succeeded. Anyone driving around in this thing should feel heroic. Check out the photos and tell us what you think!
