8 Directors in the Running to Take on THE WOLVERINE

A couple months ago Darren Aronofsky got up out of the directors chair and walked off 20th Century Fox's The Wolverine. I hated to see Aronofsky go, but the studio is on the hunt for a director to take his place and according to Variety the studio is considering eight candidates, which includes Jose Padilha (Elite Squad), Doug Liman (Jumper), Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go), Justin Lin (Fast Five), Gavin O'Connor (Miracle), James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) and Gary Shore a first time feature film director. Obviously director David Slade (Hard Candy) is out of the running.

I've got to be honest, I'm not really all that excited about any of these other directors taking on this new Wolverine film. Each of them have there strength's and weaknesses, but I just don't think any of them has what it takes to do it right. But Gary Shore really isn't a feature film director.

I guess if I had to choose one I'd have to go with the new guy Shore, because I would love to see what he could do with it. He's a commercial director that made a short film called The Draft, a concept trailer called The Cup of Tears, as well as a cool breathtaking concept piece for The Wolverine called Wolverine Vs The Hand which we showed you back in February. I say give the new guy a shot at it, he might end up surprising the hell out of us.

Check out the Wolverine and the Cup of Tears concept videos below, and tell us what you think. After watching them tell us who you would like to see direct the film?
