Joey King cast in Sam Raimi's OZ, THE GREAT AND POWERFUL
11-year-old Joey King has joined the cast of Sam Raimi's upcoming Disney film Oz, The Great and Powerful. She will be taking on the role of China Girl. This movie serves as a 3D prequel to the The Wizard of OZ.
The script for the film was written by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire. King will join James Franco who stars as "a circus wrangler who is transported by a tornado to the mysterious world of Oz. Once there he gets mistaken for a know-it-all, and eventually becomes the Wizard of Oz." Mila Kunis will star as Theodora, Michelle Williams looks as though she will star as Glinda and Rachel Weisz will play Evanora, an evil witch who has destroyed China Girl's family. Oz takes pity on her and becomes a reluctant surrogate father to the innocent young girl, who is made of porcelain.
King is best known for playing Ramona in 2010's Ramona and Beezus, and she recently landed a supporting role in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. The 3D fantasy film beings filming this July in Michigan.
