Joss Whedon is currently in the process of directing The Avengers, which is Marvel's biggest movie to date. You can bet your ass that we are going to get to get see some stuff from the film at this years Comic-Con.
I am now going to go into some familiar spoiler territory:
As far as the villains in the film go, we know that Loki will be one of the main villains who will be using the cosmic cube to give The Avenger a run for their money. We've here Loki will use his powers to control the Hulk, as well as use the cube to bring down The Skrulls to invade earth and take on the Avengers.
Now for the new SPOILER Information:
Our friends at Latino Review are reporting that there is another big villain that will be involved, and if you don't want to know who it is then please don't read ahead.
The other villain that will be included in the story is Thanos, which really isn't all that surprising. I actually kind of expected it. There's no information on how he will be included or how big of a part he will have in this film, but he will be there. Thanos has wielded the power of the Infinity Gauntlet which was in Thor, and was on display at Comic-Con last year. There's also a possibility that his character could fall in line with the third Iron Man film, or any of the other Marvel sequels.
For those of you not familiar here's a run down of the character:
Thanos is a fictional character that appears in comic books and other media published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in Iron Man#55 (Feb. 1973) and was created by writer-artist Jim Starlin.
Debuting in the Bronze Age of comic books, the character has featured in over three decades of Marvel continuity and a self-titled series. The character's name is a derivation of Thanatos, the personification of death and mortality in Greek mythology. One of his more prominent storylines to date—the Infinity Gauntlet series—portrayed him as a mad cosmic tyrant bent on slaying half of all sentiences existing then in Marvel's multiverse in order to appease the Marvel Universe's actual (and more powerful) embodied personification of Death in an attempt to win its love.
Thanos is a mutant member of the race of superhumans known as the Titanian Eternals. The character possesses abilities common to the Eternals, but in some cases far beyond any other known member of his race; acquired through a combination of his mutant Eternal heritage, bionic amplification, mysticism, and the entity Death. He has demonstrated enormous superhuman strength, stamina, and particularly durability; is able to absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, enough to obliterate planets; is virtually ageless and immortal; does not need food, drink, or oxygen; and is capable of certain telekinesis, as well as telepathy and matter manipulation. The advanced technology within his transportation chairs includes force field projection, time travel, movement through alternate universes, space flight, and teleportation over interstellar distances. Thanos is an accomplished hand-to-hand combatant, having been trained in the art of war on Titan.
Thanos possesses superhuman intellect (he considers his mind his greatest weapon) and has knowledge of Celestial and other alien technology. Thanos is a genius in virtually all known fields of advanced science and has created technology far exceeding contemporary Earth science. He is also a master strategist and sometimes utilizes a space vessel called Sanctuary II as a base of operations.
It would be cool to see this character make an apperance. Other than Latino Reviews source we have no confirmation if any of this is absolutley true, so lets treat it as a cool rumor that we hope is ends up being true for now.
