Teaser trailer for Cameron Crowe's PEARL JAM TWENTY

It's no secret that Cameron Crowe has a love of music, his past films have all had stellar soundtracks and been heavily focused on music (Almost Famous, Singles). He recently directed two music documentaries. The first is called The Union and is about Elton John and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The second is called Pearl Jam Twenty, and takes a look back at the history of the iconic grunge band.

Crowe shot footage of the band over the past year and a half and put that together with 18 to 20 hours of footage he collected of the band's career. Bassist Jeff Ament made the following statement after seeing a rough cut of the film earlier this year:

“It was so fucking weird seeing footage of stuff I didn’t know anybody was taping at the time. The whole movie is Cameron’s love letter to us – but it’s equal parts complimentary and really painful. It shows our growing pains and some real bad times, including Roskilde [the 2000 Danish festival where nine fans were trampled to death during the band’s set]. It was just really hard to watch.”

The teaser trailer below gives us a look at the film and shows the band as they transition from frothe their original band name to the one we know now. Pearl Jam Twenty is set for release in September along with a book and soundtrack.
