William Petersen, Adam Brody and Rob Corddry join Steve Carell film

William Petersen, Adam Brody and Rob Corddry have joined the cast of Seeking A Friend For The End of The World. They join Steve Carell and Keira Knightley in the directorial debut of the film's screenwriter, Lorene Scafaria. Production is slated to begin in May on the film co-financed by Mandate Pictures and Indian Paintbrush.

The film takes place at "a time when a giant asteroid is headed toward earth, almost certain to destroy the planet.  Carell plays a man who sits in his car with his wife, and when they hear over the radio that a last chance attempt to destroy the asteroid has failed, she runs off and doesn't come back. Knightley plays a neighbor who passes along a letter mistakenly delivered to her from the man's high school sweetheart, who wants to be with him when everything stops. His neighbor offers to drive him there and they develop a relationship along the way as all humanity figures out how to spend final moments."

Petersen left his role on CSI In January of 2009 and has been very selective of his film roles. He'll be seen next in Tony Kaye's education drama Detachment, which recently screened at the Tribeca Film Festival. Brody was most recently seen in Scream 4. He recently signed on to star in the indie Hemlock Drive with Susan Sarandon. He will be seen next opposite Greta Gerwig in Whit Stillman's Damsels in Distress, and has also wrapped Julian Farino's indie dramedy The Oranges. Corddry was last seen in Fox Searchlight's Cedar Rapids. He recently wrapped The Weinstein Co. comedy Butter.

The cast continues to get better for this interesting film. I like seeing Carell star in roles that are not traditional comedies. Corddry and Brody are both funny and solid actors.
