Paul Thomas Anderson Casts Jesse Plemons and David Warshofsky in his Next film

Director Paul Thomas Anderson has cast Friday Night Lights actor Jesse Plemons and veteran character actor David Warshofsky, who also had a role in Anderson's There Will Be Blood, in his untitled religious scientology inspired drama. 

They will join the previously cast actors Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin PhoenixMadisen Beaty (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Amy AdamsLaura Dern and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's Lena Endre are also up for roles in the film.

In the film Hoffman will play "a man who returns after witnessing the horrors of WWII and tries to rediscover who he is in post-war America. He creates a belief system, something that catches on with other lost souls in post-war America." Phoenix will play an "alcoholic drifter who becomes his right-hand man and disciple." 

Plemons is set to play Hoffman's son, and Warshofsky will play a detective. Production on the film is scheduled to start on June 13th and will be Anderson's first directing gig since There Will Be Blood

I'm a huge fan of the films of PT Anderson and I'm really excited about this movie. It's had an interesting road so far in trying to get funding becuase of it's subject matter. But now that it has the funding, and it's brought together a fantastic cast, I'm sure it's going to be another great film.
