Tim Burton Gives an Update on DARK SHADOWS

Movie Tim Burton by Joey Paur

Director Tim Burton recently took a break from shooting his next film Dark Shadows in London to visit the opening night of an exhibit based around the director that is being hosted by LACMA in Los Angeles, showing off film props, early writings and artwork from the filmmaker. It was at this event that The Wrap caught up with Burton and talked to him about his art, his struggle with the studios, his long-time collaborator, Johnny Depp, and  his upcoming his next film Dark Shadows. I've only included the quotes in which he talks about his work on Dark Shadow, to read the rest make sure you head on over to The Wrap. Here's what Burton had to say about the movie,

It’s been hard to kind of come here because I’m just starting, and it’s a weird tone and it’s a lot of actors and, you know, we’re not starting with the simple stuff; we're sort of getting right in there. You like to kind of sneak up on it a little bit, but this one we just kind of slammed right into it... I’m early into it because it’s a funny tone, and that’s part of what the vibe of the show is, and there’s something about it that we want to get. But when you look at it, it’s pretty bad. I’m hoping that it will be -- it’s early days, let’s put it -- I’m very intrigued by the tone.  It’s a real ethereal tone we’re trying to go for and I don’t know yet.

Interesting... he's in the midst of shooting this movie, and he still isn't sure what he's going for yet, other than it having a funny and ethereal tone? He then goes on to reveal that the film will not be shot in 3D as previously thought. Here's what he had to say about that,

I have no plans for that. I loved doing "Alice" in 3D.  “Freankeweenie,” gonna do that in 3D. There’s people like, "Everything’s gonna be in 3D," or "I hate 3D!"  I think people should have a choice. I don’t think it should be forced on anybody. At the same time, it’s great, some of it. It’s like "Yes or no!?  3D!  Yes or no?!"  It’s like, well, you know, come on, whatever, some yes, some no.

I'm actually happy that he's decided not to film this movie in 3D, this whole 3D thing is the latest Hollywood scam. I'm excited to see what Burton's Dark Shadows movie ends up being like, what do you all think about what he had to say in this interview?
