Dodgeball Director to Develop Drug Comedy WE'RE THE MILLERS

Movie Comedy by Joey Paur

Dodgeball director Rawson Thurber is currently in negotiations to take on the directing duties of a new drug comedy called We're The Millers.

The story for the movie centers on a drug dealer who, on his 30th birthday, decides that he wants out of the business. He decides to do one more job, which forces him to travel to Mexico and create a make believe family in order to bring 1,400 pounds of marijuana into the U.S.

It always that one last job that bite you in the ass, and ends up going very wrong. Before Thurber came along Full Monty director Peter Cattaneo was attached to the film project, as was Sex Drive helmers John Morris and Sean Anders. While this film was being developed earlier, Will Arnett and Steve Buscemi were a couple of the actors that had been attached to it at various times. It doesn't look like they are attached to it any more.

Comedies like this cold go either way, but it sounds like it could be good. I enjoyed Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story regardless of how silly it was. I guess at this point lets just wait and see if Thurber officially lands the directing gig.
