3 Books for THE HUNGER GAMES to be Turned into 4 Films

It shouldn't be any surprise for any of you to here that Lionsgate wants to take Suzanne Collins' three book series of The Hunger Games and turn then into four films. It's just what studios have been doing with these popular book properties lately to soak as much money out of the franchise as the can. Warner Bros. did this with Harry Potter, and Summit Entertainment did it with Twlight. I honestly don't have a problem with them expanding the film series, it not only gives the studio the opportunity to make more money, but to also allows them tell more of the complete story for the fans. So it's a win win situation.

Lionsgate COO Joe Drake said that The Hunger Games films "can chance their company," and that they see them as being an "outsized success" for the studio, who securred the rights to the books before they became extremely popular.

As soon as I heard that these books were going to get a big screen adaptation, I knew they would be a a huge hit. I think the studio made a great choice bring on Gary Ross to direct the film, and I also think they've done a fantastic job casting many of the characters. I very excited about seeing the first footage from this film. I imagine that first footage will be shown this year at Comic-Con.

What are your thoughts on the studio making four films out of the three novels?
