Warren Beatty directing and starring in new comedy for Paramount Pictures

Movie Paramount Pictures by

Warren Beatty has signed on to direct and star in an untitled comedy for Paramount Pictures. The project will be the first time he's directed a film since 1998's Bulworth. Deadline reports that Brad Grey, Paramount chairman and CEO, made the announcement on the deal today. The script for the film was written by Beatty, who will also produce.  Beatty directed both Heaven Can Wait and Reds. They both garnered 21 Oscar nominations and he won Best Director for Reds. Most recently he received the Irving Thalberg Award.

Here is what Grey had to say about the project, “Warren’s script is quintessential Beatty, elegantly written and wonderfully entertaining. It is our privilege to have one of the great artists in the history of the film industry come home to Paramount.” Casting is underway currently, with production slated to start next year.

I am excited to see Beatty in action again, I really liked him in Bugsy. What are your thoughts on this news?
