Universal and Gold Circle team on musical comedy PITCH PERFECT

Movie Universal Studios by

Universal and Gold Circle Films have joined forces to buy the worldwide rights to Pitch Perfect. Deadline reports that the project is "a musical comedy set in the world of college a cappella groups." Directing the film is Jason Moore from a screenplay by Kay Cannon. The project is based on Mickey Rapkin's nonfiction book Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory.

The film is being financed and produced by Gold Circle along with Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman via their Brownstone Productions. Moore is best known for directing various TV episodes and Shrek the Musical and Avenue Q on Broadway.

I am not a huge fan of musicals, but this sounds like a interesting project. What are your thoughts?
