Doug Liman's LUNA getting fast-tracked; Cooper, Evans and Garfield being considered

In March we reported that Doug Liman‘s (The Bourne Identity, Mr. And Mrs. Smith) sci-fi MOON project a.k.a LUNA looked like it was going to move forward. Today it looks as though Paramount is finalizing a deal that could fast-track the project with co-financing from Skydance Pictures and New Regency. Jake Gyllenhaal was attached as the lead for a long time, but his schedule got busy and the actor moved on. Liman is also currently considering Bradley Cooper, Chris Evans, or Andrew Garfield for the lead.

The story centers on a renegade group of former space employees, led by an Eastern European woman, who travel the world, stealing space equipment in an attempt to go back to the moon to acquire an energy source. The last item to steal -- or in this case, kidnap -- is an ex-NASA employee.

The film looks like something that is right up my alley. I think Liman is a great director, and am excited to see his take on this film. What are your thoughts on this news? Who do you think should be cast?
