E3 2011: DEAD ISLAND - Most Impressive Zombie Game I've Played
You all saw that incredible trailer for the new zombie video game Dead Island, it was incredible. The big question on everyone's mind though was, will the actual video game be just as awesome? The answer to that is yes, yes it is. The game was surprisingly pretty incredible. I'm a huge fan if the Left 4 Dead games, and I won't stop playing it, but there are aspects of Dead Island that are much better, such as the layered detailed graphics and the actual story.
Dead Island is unlike any other zombie video game I've played before, and I’ve played them all. I enjoy all things zombie, and the fact that you are on a island resort hotel killing zombies on a beach with a variety of makeshift weapons is just so bloody cool. I have to say I had a great time destroying zombies with the machete. It was a messy weapon. Smashing zombies heads in with a boat ore was fun as well.
Dead Island is harsh fast paced and extremely violent and has a excessive amount of blood and gore, which is what I like in my zombie video games. The detail in this game was extremely impressive, and the zombies are insanely intense looking and violent as hell. It's pretty shocking to see them coming at you... especially while they are on fire. The zombies have layers of torn human meat and muscle horrifically molded onto their bodies, meaning they have a multi-layered damage system with real-time injuries.
The section of the game I got to play was the very beginning and pretty much just the tutorial of the game. Five complete minutes of zombie destruction. The character wakes up with a lifeguard standing over him. The man helps the character up, and guides her to a beach hut with several other terrified tourists. One person begs the character to go outside and help the lifeguard fend off the horde. The character then picks up a dinghy paddle and walks outside. After helping the lifeguard, the player is asked to go to a lifeguard tower to see if it’s safe.... of course it’s not. It’s all about killing zombies from this point on until my time playing the game ran out.
Dead Island is a video game I will most definitely be picking up. If your a fan of zombie games like me, your going to love it.
