Jason Bateman in talks for INSANE LAWS with Vince Vaughn

Jason Bateman is in talks to join The Insane Laws with Vince Vaughn for Universal Pictures. It will mark the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Jeremy Garelick. The project was picked up by Universal after the project went into turnaraound at Sony Pictures. The film is being produced by Neal Moritz under his Original Film banner. Vaughn first worked with Garelick when he co-write The Break-Up. Garelick was also an uncredited script writer on The Hangover.

Deadline reports that Bateman and Vaughn would "play longtime best friends, who've shared everything, from college to the time both got married and had kids at the same time. Cut to when those kids are away at college, and, unbeknownst to their parents, falling in love. The best friend relationship is sorely tested when the daughter of Vaughn's character gets pregnant." Both actors have read the script and if a deal is closed, it could get into production by the fall.

I really have hated Vaughn's recent work, but Bateman is on a role lately. I am very excited to see him in Horrible Bosses this summer. What are your thoughts on this news?
