Steven Spielberg will make his First Comic-Con Appearance!

After all of these many years of making awesome movies, director Steven Spielberg is finally going to make his first appearance at San Diego Comic-Con. He will be coming to show off and talking about his new motion capture CGI 3D film The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

This is incredibly interesting because he didn't even show up for Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, or any other of his films for that matter. Why now? Why Tintin? Maybe because Tintin is going to need all the help it can get. I think the film looks like it's going to be a great adventurous film, and I'm looking forward to it, but there is a strong possibility that it could fail at the box office. This a motion capture CGI film, and those kinds of movies have been dying at the box office. Robert Zemeckis' films progressively made less and less money at the box-office. The Disney film Mars Needs Moms completely bombed, and Disney shut down his Yellow Submarine film project and his animation studio. Which led a lot of people to believe that Motion Capture CGI technology was dead, and not worth it. I just think Zemekis was going about it all wrong, he was telling the wrong stories. But, his films may have tainted this kind of technological story telling technique. I hope not, I think there is a great future with this technology, it's only going to get better. As long as the stories are good and solid, then there should be no reason why it couldn't flourish. Think about it, if Pixar made a film using this technology everyone would flock to see it. Will Spielberg be able to make the people believe that this form of story telling works? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

What do you all think?
