SDCC 2011: GAME OF THRONES panel

The room was a flutter with chatter, but when George R. R. Martin took the stage the crowd broke into a deafening applause. Martin wasted no time, and jumped into showing some a recap of the first season of the epic drama. The cast was announced, but when Peter Dinklage was announced it was like a rock star had shown up on stage. Jason Momoa looked the rocker part in all black and wearing sunglasses.

David Benioff and DB Weiss, the show creators, talked about how they came up with the show and mentioned that they had been approached on many occasions to make it into a film, but turned it down. The studios wanted to make a 2 and a half hour pg-13 film, and I for one am glad that did not happen. I could not imagine this book being adapted any differently. HBO knows how to properly put on a TV series.

When Momoa broke out into his Drogo voice I about lost it. His real life personality is a bunch more refined and he is soft spoken and very polite. Dinklage is well deserved for his Emmy nomination for his work on the show. I am willing to wager that Dinklage will take the award home in Septemeber. He is an amazing actor and Tyrion is my favorite character onn the series aside from Emilia Clarke

Benioff and Weiss gave an update on the anticipated DVD/Blu-ray release and said there is tons of "amazing material" to look forward to. They revealed that fans will be able to see the audition tapes.

This is definitely one of my favorite series on TV lately. HBO brings some of the best production value for it's shows. One of the cool parts of this series is the ups and downs of the story. This was a great panel for me.

What are your thoughts on this show? Were you at the panel, if so share your thoughts?
