SDCC 2011: PROMETHEUS Panel
Ridley Scott's return to Sci-fi is much to the joy of many geeks. So seeing this panel was something I was looking forward to. Damon Lindelof hosted all the Fox panels and shared some of his experience in getting tapped to do the screenplay of which he's very proud of.
A video starts off with Scott talking about the sound stages they are using and how huge they are and how you could fit 2.5 747's inside them. One quote I can remember him saying verbatim is "What I want to do is scare the living shit out of you."
The footage of the film has quick shots of ship corridors and what looks like alien relics and a very familiar field of eggs. The ship design has Ridley's finger prints all over it. Also several shots of Michael Fassbender working with what looks like a green egg or a power core. Scott talks about bio engineering. And Charlize Theron going "naked pushups." Action cutting but no visible Alien.
Lindelof jokes with Charlize Theron about going "naked pushups" and she says "I know how to sell a movie." Ridley joins via satellite from Iceland. Surprisingly he talks about how he loves shooting 3D and how he's going to shoot everything in 3D even his smaller projects from now on.
Noomi Rapace also joins via satellite and talks about how insanely cold it is. The background behind Rapace & Scott is stark stone and ice landscape. This ice covered landscape will be the opening of the film.
Finally they are shooting it with the goal of PG13 but will "shoot a bit extra" for what sounds like a R rated version.
As I was already sold on the project now I'm just geeking out.
