J.J. Abrams Ready to Commit to STAR TREK 2

Now that Super 8 is finished, and it's a big summer success, director J.J. Abrams is finally ready to commit to directing Star Trek 2. He's never really officially said he would get behind the camera again for the sequel, but according to Deadline the studio is ready to move forward with it when Abrams is. It's been reported that the movie will not be released on June 29th 2012 has previously reported. Paramount Pictures has moved the G.I. Joe sequel into that released date slot.

Now that Abrams is back and relaxed from his vacation, he's ready to get to work with screenwriters Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof on the script for Star Trek 2, and he has also started to prep up for the films production which will most likely start shooting sometime in January and be set for release in the fourth quarter of 2012 or summer 2013.

One thing we know for sure is that Chris Pine will reprise his role as Captain Kirk before he takes on the role of Jack Ryan for Paramount Pictures.

I imagine we'll get an officially announcement telling us that Abrams will officially be directing the movie soon.
