Katherine Heigl to Star in I DREAM OF JEANNIE Remake?

According to a rumor over on The Daily Katherine Heigl could end up starring in an adaptation of the 1960's TV series I Dream of Jeannie. There's no doubt that Heigl fits the lead role perfectly, but why the hell does someone want to make a movie about this character. Before Heigl's name came up Lindsay Lohan was attached to this silly film project. The movie has been trying to get made for a while, and has gone through several rewrites, but it doesn't seem like it's really moving forward. So if we're lucky the project will never see the light of day.

The original series starred Barbara Eden as a 2,000-year-old genie, and Larry Hagman as an astronaut who becomes her master, with whom she falls in love and eventually marries. What do you think about the possibility of Hegel starring in the adaptation of I Dream of Jeannie.
