Sony sets release date for Kathryn Bigelow's Bin Laden/Navy Seal thriller

Sony Pictures has set a release date for Kathryn Bigelow's Osama Bin Laden/Navy Seal thriller feature film for October 12. Deadline reports that the studio is using a strategy similar to the one employed on The Social Network, which also launched early in October.

The project was once titled Kill Bin Laden, but when the Seal Team 6 actually completed the mission Bigelow and Mark Boal had to update the script. Earlier we reported that Joel Edgerton had been cast in the still untitled film.

I am interested in seeing who else will be cast as the remainder of the seal team. This is going to be a picture that will have a lot of media attention and may gain some Oscar buzz. What are your thoughts on this news? Are you looking forward to seeing this film?
