ANGRY BIRD film takes flight with help from former Marvel chair David Maisel
A feature film of the addicting Angry Bird video game is taking flight. It has been reported on NapiersNews.com (via The Guardian) that former Marvel Sudios chair, David Maisel, is helping to bring the game to the big screen. Masiel oversaw Iron Man for Marvel and stated that he is interested in the "emotional connection" that players have with the Angry Birds characters. The object of the game is to use a slingshot to fire birds at the evil pigs who have stolen their eggs. This highly popular game hit 250m downloads last month.
Maisel was not the first choice for the role, according to Rovio CEO Mikael Hed and went on to say, "Two people I know who have gone outside the studio system and built a very significant entertainment business that managed to break through on the movie side. Since that's our aspiration as well – and George Lucas was unavailable – David was really the best person we could have hoped to work with."
I have actually never played this game, but that is a hell of a lot of downloads. What are your thoughts on this news?
