Jason Statham rumored to be up for TRANSFORMERS 4 lead

After having a great opening weekend, it only makes sense that Hollywood is setting it's sights on more Transformers installments. Showbiz Spy reports that there could be a new leading man taking over for Shia Labeouf and that it could end up being Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's boyfriend Jason Statham.

According to a Hollywood insider “It’s clear the franchise still has huge potential but with a new leading man capable of taking Transformers in a new, darker direction. Jason could be just the man to do that and his relationship with Rosie would be an added bonus in marketing the movie.”

At this point this is just a rumor and could never happen. I thought the last film was the best of the franchise. There have been franchises come back from poor second films. For me, the second Fast and Furious film was horrible and look where Justin Lin has taken the franchise. What are your thoughts on the idea of Statham taking over the lead?
