Harry Lennix Joins MAN OF STEEL as a General

Harry Lennix from The Matrix sequels has been cast in Zack Snyder's Superman film titled Man of Steel. Lennix will play a “high-ranking military officer named General Swanwick.” I never heard of General Swanwick in the comics so I did a little digging around and found... nothing. So I'm not sure what role he will play in the story, this is one created for the movie, so we'll just have to wait and see what they do with it.

Lennix joins the previously cast Henry Cavill who will play Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, the amazing Michael Shannon takes on General Zod, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane as the Kents, and Russell Crowe and Julia Ormond‘s as Superman’s Kryptonian parents.

Here is a little rcap of what we know about the story so far, "Clark Kent is a freelance reporter in his early 20’s, traveling all around the world covering various news stories. However, Kent is forced to fly back into action to attain a fleeing assassin instead of covering an ethnic conflict between the Ghuri and Turaaba clans in West Africa. Upon his return to form, Kent returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and become the hero he was born to be."

What are your thoughts on Lennis joining the cast, how do you think his role will play out in the story?
