Duncan Jones meeting with WETA for third and possibly last sci-fi film

Dunan Jones (Source Code and Moon) that his his next film may be his last sci-fi film for a bit. The director revealed that he has meetings with Oscar-winning special effects house WETA Digital the team behind the recent Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Not much is known about the project at this time, other than that Jones is interested in a break from sci-fi after this film. Here is what he had to say about the project:

"I can say that it is a science fiction film, and potentially... I'll take a break from sci-fi after this film. Moon was done at a tiny budget and we really squeezed everything we could out of it. Source Code was a chance to work on a bigger budget with name actors, but on a project that wasn't my own. Hopefully, this third film will be the kind of sci-fi I want to make, on a budget where I can afford to do it as I see it in my head. After that, I'll change genres."

He revealed that he grew up loving sci-fie films and revealed his interest in changing to a different genre, saying "I wouldn't want them to define me." He added: "Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to make films that are a little bit more unexpected."

Jones went on to talk about meeting with WETA:

"My producer and I travelled to New Zealand to visit the guys at WETA," he revealed. "We had an amazing experience... I feel I would be privileged to get the chance to work with WETA so hopefully that will happen."

Be sure to check out the full interview with Jones HERE. I just introduced my wife to Source Code on DVD. She enjoyed her first viewing as much as I did my second. What are your thoughts on this news? What are some other genres you would like to see Jones take on?
