Alexandre Aja to Direct PET SEMATARY Remake

It looks like Paramount Pictures might end up hiring Piranha 3D director Alexander Aja to direct the long gestating remake of Stephen King's classic horror story Pet Sematary. The studio is actively trying to get him on board. There's been talk of a remake happening forever, and the last thing we heard was that 1408 screenwriter Matthew Greenberg was writing the script.

Paramount is obviously looking at getting this film put into production pretty quick. The director is currently trying to set up his next big project Cobra: The Space Pirate, but it's still looking for money and it's not even scheduled to start shooting until 2013, so there's a strong possibility that will end up doing Pet Sematary first. 

I love this story, I loved the original film, it scared the living hell out of me! I wish I could be more excited about the remake, but I'm not. I don't really care because the original film has a special place in my heart for giving me nightmares for a year after I saw the movie as a kid. I'm sure Aja could do a decent job bring this story back to life on the big screen, but I'm just not feelin' it.

This remake is going to happen whether you like it or not, what do you all think about that?
