SOURCE CODE writer scripting FLATLINERS remake for Columbia

It looks like Joel Schumacher's Flatliners will have a second chance at life, thanks to Columbia Pictures. THR reports that the 1990 drama , which starred Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Kiefer Sutherland and others, is being remade and the help of Ben Ripley who wrote Source Code. The project is being produced by veteran producer Laurence Mark (Julie & Julia and The Lookout). Further Films, who produced the original, is also involved.

Peter Filardi wrote the original, which centered on "a group of medical students who bring subject themselves to near-death experiences in order to see if anything lies beyond the big sleep. The members of the group then are revisited by physical manifestations of childhood sins are not sure if what they are facing is real or hallucination."

I really enjoyed Source Code and the original film was decent. It will be interesting to see this film revived for modern times. What are your thoughts?
