Warner Bros. Acquires Rights to Comic Series NONPLAYER

Movie Warner Bros. by Joey Paur

Warner Bros. has picked up the rights to a six issue comic book miniseries called Nonplayer created by Nate Simpson and published by Image. The comic launched last May and here's a description of the story,

Mid-21st century America doesn't have much to offer Dana Stevens, but there's plenty for her to live for inside Warriors of Jarvath, the world's most popular full-immersion online game. In the real world, she's a tamale delivery girl who still lives with her mom, but inside the game she's an elite assassin. When she gets the drop on King Heremoth, a celebrity non-player character, she thinks she's finally got a shot at fame. But when she slays Queen Fendra, the King's reaction is disconcertingly realistic. Something's amiss in Jarvath, and the effects may reverberate well beyond the boundaries of the game.

Harry Potter producer David Heyman will help develop the film alongside producer Roy Lee (The Ring, The Departed). The studio is looking at the film as a potential big budget tentpole type film.

I haven't read the comic series, but is sounds like an interesting story that could translate well for the big screen. It will be interesting to see he the studio bring on to write and direct the project. Hopefully this turns into a cool kick-ass film. What are your thoughts on this story getting a film adaptation?
