THE WOLVERINE getting a rewrite from TOTAL RECALL'S Mark Bomback!

The Wolverine is getting a rewrite thanks to Mark Bomback. Variety reports tha Bomback (Jack the Giant Killer, Total Recall) has been hired to rewrite Christopher McQuarrie's script for 20th Century Fox's superhero sequel starring Hugh Jackman being directed by James Mangold.

The story follows Wolvie who is "suffering from amnesia and searching for answers about his past in the Japanese criminal underworld where he finds both love and tragedy." Japanese and Japanese-American actors make up the cast, except for a newly expanded character named Viper, who's the Caucasian secretary for Japan's Minister of Justice.

The project is being produced by Jackman along with John Palermo and Lauren Shuler Donner. Filming is slated to take place in Tokyo and Vancouver next year after Jackman wraps Tom Hooper's  Les Miserables for Universal. Bomback wrote Live Free or Die Hard and Unstoppable for Fox. He also scripted the Deception, which also stars Jackman, as well as the  action-thriller Protection in development at Fox-based banner Davis Entertainment.

This makes sense since Viper has been expanded and the story is being altered to include many Japanes locations. What are your thoughts on this news?
