Hannibal Lecter is Getting his Own TV Series!

TV by Joey Paur

Hannibal Lecter is one of the most evil and badass villains ever portrayed in movie history, and now it looks like he's going to get his very own TV series, which is pretty damn awesome. The only issue I see is, who will portray him? We know that Anthony Hopkins won't be doing it, so the person that fills this characters shoes has got to be insanely good, and scary as hell.

Hannibal will be a one hour series which was written by Bryan Fuller, for those of you not familiar with that name he's written and produced shows such as Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies, and Heroes, so the series is in very good hands.

The story will center on Lecter's early days, namely his time going head-to-head with FBI agent Will Graham. The back story between the two characters were alluded to in Thomas Harris' novel Red Dragon and the films Manhunter and Red Dragon.

The project is being developed by a French studio called Guamont which has created Gaumont International Television based out of Los Angeles. They have a few projects already in development, on top of Hannibal they are developing a six hour mini series from Michael Hirst called  Madame Tussaud.

I think it's exciting that we are going to get to see more of a back story on Lecter, and who he is, what he's done. With Fuller involved, I just can't help but think it's going to turn out being a great new series. What are your thoughts on the news?
