Denzel Washington offered lead Billy Ray's THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES remake

Denzel Washington has been offered the lead role in Bily Ray's new thriller. Twitch reports that Washington is in talks to play the lead in the upcoming Warner Bros. remake of The Secret In Their Eyes, an Oscar winning Argentinian film directed by Juan Jose Campanella.

The project is being written and directed by Ray (Shattered Glass, Breach) and Washington has been offered the role played by Ricardo Darin in the original. The film follows "a retired legal counselor writes a novel hoping to find closure for one of his past unresolved homicide cases and for his unreciprocated love with his superior - both of which still haunt him decades later."

Washington will star next in Robert Zemeckis' Flight, so if a deal is reached it will be after he lands. I have not seen the original film, but it is in my queue. What are your thoughts on this casting news?
