More Details on Shawn Levy's FRANKENSTEIN Film Adaptation
Director Shawn Levy is currently in the process of developing a new big screen adaptation of Frankenstein for Fox. This is just one of several Frankenstein projects in development right now. We don't really know much about the project, but it was previously described as “a sci-fi take on the traditional Mary Shelley story, focusing on themes of friendship and redemption.” Which I find funny because isn't Mary Shelly's Frankenstein already a sci-fi story?
The films screenwriter Max Landis recently gave an interview in which he revealed some more details on the film, and talks about how he got engulfed in the whole mythology of Frankenstein. He reveals that the movie will be period piece told from the perspective of the character Igor, and all the interesting misconceptions surrounding the mythology of this story and character. Landis mostly discusses where Igor came from, and if Victor Frankenstein was actually a doctor or a drop out. It's really quite an interesting discussion. He also says it's the best thing that he's written.
Watch the video below and you'll see that Landis is a spaz. He's obviously very excited about this movie, which is cool. I hope the movie turns out good, but I'm still not sold on Levy bringing it to life. I don't think he's got what it takes to tell this story. Check out the video below and tell us what you think!
