John Singleton in talks with Ice Cube to direct N.W.A. biopic

John Singleton has Abduction opening this weekend, but he has a number of other projects in the works. The Playlist is reporting that Singleton is in talks to reunite with his Boyz N The Hood star, Ice Cube. Here is what he had to say about the project:

“I can’t talk about it too prematurely about the stuff I’m doing because nothing’s come to fruition yet, but Cube and I are talking about doing the N.W.A. story. The script is really, really good, and so we’re just figuring it out. New Line really wants to make it.”

The biopic that focuses on the classic gangsta rap group has  Andrea Berloff, S. Leigh Savidge, Alan Wenkus and Matt Alvarez, attached to writ the script. The film is being produced by Cube, David Engel, Bill Strauss, and Tomica Wright. The film has a proposed title of Straight Outta Compton?
