Lionsgate Acquires the Horror Thriller YOU'RE NEXT
Lionsgate has picked up the North American distribution rights to the Adam Wingard’s horror thriller You’re Next. The film recently screened up at the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie stars Sharni Vinson, Joe Swanberg, A.J. Bowen, Nicholas Tucci and Barbara Crampton.
The film tells the story of a family reunion getaway that comes under a sadistic attack, and where the victims launch a fight back.
It looks like the movie got some solidly good reviews from the festival. Here are a few I've read:
Bloody Disgusting says: "You're Next is totally F'ing awesome. It's like the finale of Straw Dogs as an entire movie. The siege lasts the entire movie and the heroes have brilliant ways to fight back."
The Guardian says: "There are surprises, sudden shocks and giggles aplenty. Just when you thought the arguments might become a little familiar, an arrow crashes through the dining room window and plants itself in a fleshy bullseye. Just when you thought horror had forgotten how to truly entertain, the main course begins. More arrows come flying in and the terrified convocation must organise fast or face certain death."
Twitch says: "An enormously entertaining film You're Next deserves to be, well, next. This is the film that declares - and declares loudly - that Wingard isn't just an indie darling, that he is a director that can kick a mainstream audience's ass and make them fall in love with the experience. You're Next is this year's Insidious, Stake Land or House Of The Devil. It is the clear high point of American indie backed genre film for 2011. And with the indies beating the tar out of the studio backed fare in terms of quality in the horror arena for a good long while now that translates to being the best American horror picture of the year, period."
With reviews like this I can't wait to see the movie! Thanks to Lionsgate we will be able to.
