STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC Release Date Announced!

Games by Joey Paur

It was finally announced at the Eurogamer Expo from Bioware that the long awaited video game Star Wars: The Old Republic will be released on December 20th 2011! This is sure to make Star Wars gamers incredibly excited and their significant others incredibly sad and disappointed. Think about it... gamers are going to be sucked in and lost in their computer during the Christmas holiday. I guess if you don't celebrate Christmas it wont really matter. Of course if you pre-order SWTOR there will be an early access period.

BioWare, Co-Founder, and General Manager of the BioWare Label, Dr. Ray Muzyka had this to say,

In 1977, Lucasfilm created magic with the release of Star Wars. Our goal is to capture some of that magic when we go live with Star Wars: The Old Republic on December 20. This is an incredible moment for everyone at BioWare and our partners at LucasArts who have dedicated so much of their lives to building this extraordinary game.

Dr. Greg Zeschuk, Co-Founder, BioWare and General Manager of the MMO Business Unit of BioWare added,

We appreciate the patience of the millions of fans who have been waiting for the game's release. When we launch this groundbreaking MMO with world class storytelling this holiday season, we hope you will agree that it was worth the wait.

The Old Republic takes place thousands of years before the events of the Star Wars films. The Sith Empire and Galactic Republic are locked in a deadly conflict. Players will have eight classes to choose from, each of which has their own unique storyline to experience. On your journey, you'll travel to Tatooine, Alderaan, and other notable worlds from Star Wars lore.

Here are the subscription details... The first 30 days will be free with $14.99 being the price-per-month fee. Alternate plans like paying for a three months will be $41.97 and $77.94 for six months at a time.

I don't play MMO's but I might actually end up trying this game out. I hope to hell I don't get hooked.
