DreamWorks buys rights to Roald Dahl's THE BFG

Roald Dahl's The BFG is being developed into a feature film. The Wrap is reporting that DreamWorks picked up the rights for Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall to produce. Melissa Mathison (E.T.) will adapt the children's book "about a big friendly giant" that was first published in 1982. 

Dahl's other novels have been developed for the big screen, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach and Fantastic Mr. Fox. With Kennedy and Marshall on board it is likely for the film to be to be decent. They have been responsible for The Bourne Ultimatum and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and a bunch of other films.

I am a fan of Dahl's books and think they are primed for the big screen. The first version of Chocolate Factory starring Gene Wilder was far superior to Tim Burton's version. I liked The BFG and am interested to see where this project goes. What are your thoughts?
