X-MEN: DESTINY - Launch Game Trailer

Activision has released the launch trailer for their upcoming new Marvel Universe video game X-Men: Destiny. This could be a fun game to take on, I like the idea of the game and character adapting to the choices that the player makes through the course of the story. The player gets to decide which mutants they become allies and enemies with.

The game is set in San Francisco, which has been divided into human and mutant areas due to conflict between the two groups. The story begins at a peace rally being held in memory of the deceased Professor X, where the player will choose from one of three mutant characters to play as, who are original created just for the game.

The game is set to be released on September 27th on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Check out the new Launch Trailer below, and tell us what you think!.

Gameplay Information:

In X-Men: Destiny, players will be put in the role of new mutants who join the X-Men or the Brotherhood of Mutants; they will have to make choices to decide the ultimate destiny of their character. According to early sources, X-Men: Destiny is placing an emphasis on "choice" as its main focus, as opposed to a more traditional linear type of gameplay. According to the official press release, "the all-new original video game casts players as new mutant recruits in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny". At E3 2011, the hands-off demo demonstrated that throughout the game the player character collects and equips 'X-Genes' which grant the power of an established member of X-Men continuity. These come in three types, offensive, defensive and utility, and can be swapped at any time with other collected X-Genes

Character Info:

  • Aimi Yoshida Born in Fuji City, Japan, Aimi was smuggled out of Japan by her mutant parents before their family could be incarcerated in the new mutant camps. She arrived in San Francisco hidden on a tanker ship. She is too young and frightened to appreciate her parents’ motivations for sending her away, instead feeling only the bitterness and anger of abandonment. Despite sharing a surname with an established Marvel character, Sunfire, it has not been revealed if the two characters are related in any way.
  • Grant Alexander Born in Sandersville, Georgia, Grant is a college freshman who dreams of becoming a professional football player. He hopes to land a spot this year on the University of California, Berkeley, varsity squad. Grant has no interest in politics and knows little about the ongoing mutant/human conflict.
  • Adrian Luca Born in Los Angeles, California, Adrian is the son of an anti-mutant extremist who was killed in battle. His father’s associates called themselves “Purifiers,” and under their care Adrian was educated to hate all mutants and conditioned to seek revenge for his father’s murder. The Purifiers have trained Adrian to be a soldier in their army of “pure-blooded” Homo sapiens
