Ben Affleck's ARGO gets a Release Date
Warner Bros. has set September 14th 2012 as the release date for the Ben Affleck directed hostage film Argo. Affleck also stars in the film alongside a great cast of actors that includes Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston and John Goodman.
The screenplay was written by Chris Terrio and it's based on Joshuah Bearman's Wired Magazine article, How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran. It tells the story of "how the CIA and the Canadian government teamed to rescue six U.S. diplomats who'd been taken hostage at the American embassy by a group of Iranians in 1979. The CIA's ruse involved the explanation that the six hostages were actually a Hollywood film crew scouting a movie titled "Argo," and using those fake identities, they were able to flee the country."
Affleck has proved himself to be a solid director, so I'm interested to see how this turns out.
