Steve Carell Cast in Moneyball Directors FOXCATCHER

Over four years ago it was announced the Moneyball director Bennett Miller would direct a film called Foxcatcher. The film project is finally moving forward and Steve Carell has been cast in the lead role. Miller will direct the film from a script writer by E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman, who also wrote Miller's fist feature film Capote. The film is scheduled to start production in March of next year.

The film is based on the dramatic true story of John du Pont, "a paranoid schizophrenic and heir to the du Pont chemical fortune, du Pont built a wrestling training facility called Team Foxcatcher on his 800-acre Pennsylvania estate, where in 1996, he shot and killed Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler David Schultz."

I don't know much about this story but according to Variety, "Schultz was a longtime friend of du Pont who had repeatedly tried to help him. Police never established a motive for the crime, which was witnessed by Schultz's wife and du Pont's head of security. After the shooting, the multi-millionaire locked himself in his mansion for two days while he negotiated with police on the telephone. Authorities turned off his power and were able to capture him when he went outside to fix his heater. Du Pont died last December at age 72."

What a crazy story! This obviously wont be a comedy, and it will definitely be Carell's darkest most dramatic role to date. What are your thought's on Carell taking a very different role like this?
