Brenden Fraser's WILLIAM TELL 3D movie gets a new Director

Movie by Joey Paur

I've been sitting on this news for about three days now and finally decided to post it. I'm just not into the films of Brenden Fraser these days. The actor is currently developing a 3D version of the classic story William Tell, yes the guy who mastered shooting arrows off peoples heads.

The movie was original supposed to be directed by Doctor Who's Nick Hurran, but he is no longer on the project and has been replaced by Eric Brevig, the man who directed Fraser in Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. The plan is to shoot it in the style  Pirates of the Caribbean and Sherlock Holmes. I can gaurentee this movie wont be good as either of those.

Yeah, so I'm not really that all excited about the movie, I'm not impressed with the talent and I just can't help but think that this is going to be a bad adaptation of the story. I imagine the only reason they are making the movie is so they can do flying 3D arrow shots, look for it in the trailer.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In an age of oppression and tyranny, Tell (Fraser) is forced to rise up against those who threaten his lands and family. The governor of Switzerland lies dying, and Austrian Hermann Gessler is waiting to take his place. Try as he might, Tell cannot keep himself out of the conflict that ensues, and soon finds his own wife and children embroiled in it. Refusing to bow to a tyrant, he is forced to shoot an apple off the head of his own son – and then he swears revenge. It is the inspiration of a nation, and the stuff of legend.

Last I heard Anna Paquin and Til Schweiger were also going to be in the film, but there is no mention of their names in this recent report.

What are your thoughts on Fraser's adaptation of William Tell?
