GREEN ARROW TV Series Coming to The CW

The CW is looking to bring the Green Arrow back to the small screen with his own TV series! The network is finalizing a deal for a new hour-long superhero drama called Arrow that they hope will successfully fill the void that Smallville left when it ended.

The Green Lantern co-writers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim came up with the idea for the show and wrote the story. They will produce the series along side Fringe and Vampire Diaries writer Andrew Kreisberg whom they brought in to write the script. Kreisberg also wrote DC Comics’ Green Arrow and Black Canary.

I think it's interesting that the new series will not follow the comic book; according to Deadline the series sets the character "in a new world with an original story that is not based on the comics." Actor Justin Hartley portrayed the superhero in Smallville, but it looks as if he wont be a part of this new series, which is a shame. I really liked him as The Green Arrow/Oliver Queen.

It was also reported that Smallville director David Nutter wants to direct the project. The Green Arrow is such a great character, and I really hope this show turns out to be awesome. I would love to see another great superhero series, but Smallville will be hard to replace. I hope Berlanti and Guggenheim know what they're doing with this, especially since they are basically reinventing the story.

What do you think about Green Arrow getting his own series on the CW?
