Kristen Wiig has said no to Bridesmaids 2, but she may say yes to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. THR reports that Wiig is in talks to star opposite Ben Stiller in the long-gestating fantasy comedy, which Stiller is directing for 20th Century Fox. It is a remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye movie based on the James Thurber short. The story follows "a timid magazine photo manager (Stiller) who daydreams of exciting adventures, only to find himself in an adventure of his own when he goes in search of a missing negative." Wiig is in talks to play his co-worker/the girl of his fantasies.
The project would mark Wiig's first big studio film since last year's Bridesmaids. She has been choosy since then, only starring in indies, such as Imogene and Revenge for Jolly! Production is slated to start in April and will shoot in New York and Iceland. Stiller is also producing via his Red Hour Entertainment.
As much as I would like to see Wiig in a Bridesmaids 2, this might be a better fit for her. I will support her either way and plan on seeing this film. What are your thoughts?
